UIC ENGAGE is part of part of UIC's long-term commitment to expand college access to Chicago's youth and promote the economic, educational, health, and social wellness of the university's surrounding neighborhoods.
Student volunteers will provide math, writing, and homework assistance to children in grades 3, 4, and 5 in the Chicago Public Schools from 3:30pm – 5:30 pm, on Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday.
Students will be expected to commit to one of the 2-day rotations (provide tutoring support twice per week.) as well as volunteer for ten (10) weeks.
***Transportation to the schools will be provided as well as a snack.
Students' involvement in the community should complement their campus-based experience. UIC students receive resource manuals for the teaching of math and writing, six hours of training and technological support throughout the semester. Those who complete a semester of tutoring will receive a UIC Experience certificate and recognition at a luncheon with UIC Chancellor Michael Amiridis.
Application Deadline is February 28!
