The UIC Center for Global Health and Rush University are planning to offer the Global Health Summer Training Institute in June 2017, based on student demand. The Global Health Summer Training Institute will give students the essential skills needed to become an effective global health practitioner in a community setting. The Institute is designed for health science students to develop foundational skills in global health during the summer between their first and second year of medical study. After successfully participating in the Institute, the students are eligible to sit for a medical Spanish certification exam.
The Institute’s four (4) week curriculum covers five key areas:
- Designing for Behavior Change
- Global Health Ethics and Crossing Cultures
- Health Services Quality Improvement
- Advocacy
- Medical Spanish Training
Learn from experts in the field of global health through case-based studies, role-playing, team and project-based learning and more. Courses will be held Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. on the campus of the University of Illinois at Chicago.
