The Office of International Services is in the midst of recruitment for the spring 2017 cohorts of OIS’ signature programs, Trade Winds and Conversation Partners.
Trade Winds is an international friendship program that connects international and U.S. students over a shared interest in cultural exchange and exploring the city of Chicago. The semester-long program provides opportunities to interact in one-on-one and group settings. Many outings, such as museum visits, are FREE to participants! Applications can be found online and are due Monday, January 23, 2017.
Conversation Partners is a program designed to bring international students and U.S. students together for the common goal of language exchange. International students practice English language skills with a U.S. student, while U.S. students improve foreign language skills with a native speaker. Both are able to improve cultural competencies and gain first-hand language experience by connecting with peers in an out-of-classroom learning environment. Applications can be found online and are due Wednesday, February 8, 2017.
Past participants have included students recently returned or interested in study abroad; students studying language, culture, or international-focused majors; recent transfer students looking to connect on-campus; students interested in working abroad; and UIC international students. More information, programs details, and application can be found on the OIS website. Download brochures for Trade Winds and Conversation Partners.
