Dear Honors College Students,
First the big news – this year we will offer students free poster making for the UIC SRF! So, you do not have to apply for a research grant if you only want us to pay for your poster. Watch for more details to come and expect that deadline for submitting your poster if you want us to pay for printing to be the Monday before the Student Research Forum. That means that to qualify for free poster printing you must submit your printer in pdf format by Monday March 27, and will be able to pick up your poster at the Honors College on Friday March 31.
If you plan to apply for the research or conference travel grants, they are due on-line by 5:00 PM on Friday, February 10, 2017. Guidelines for writing the research proposal can be found here: http://www.honors.uic.edu/scholarships/#HONORS_COLLEGE_UNDERGRADUATE_RESEARCH_GRANTS.
All applications must be read by and supported by a letter from your research faculty advisor.
(1) Research grants: All forms of scholarship are supported, including Capstone Projects. Maximum award is $1,000, for expenditures incurred since Dec 12, 2016 or anticipated for projects planned for current or planned research projects. (2) Conference Travel grants: Proposals will be considered for expenses associated with presentation of research at conferences (e.g., flight, hotel, poster preparation costs) up to $500. Please submit your application here: https://uic.academicworks.com/opportunities
Please read the award announcements carefully, and follow instructions for submission of your research proposal, budget form, and letter of support from your faculty supervisor. Provide your faculty supervisor with a draft of your proposal prior to submission and solicit their feedback prior to submission to ensure the strongest possible research application.
Submit your completed online application--including support letter--by 5:00 p.m. on Friday February 10, 2017. The online system will be terminated at that time and no late applications will be accepted.
