Walls or Bridges: How Do We Make Sense of This Political Moment?
In the wake of the 2016 Presidential elections, how do we understand the current political environment as it may impact, our students, colleagues, research, and communities? Join us for an open forum on immigration policy, communities experiencing violence, the threat of a mandatory registration for Muslims, new challenges facing media, the discourse on race, class and gender, and the role and future of higher education. Guest speakers, and several faculty members, will offer their expertise and observations followed by small group discussions on specific topics.
Guest Speakers Include:
Steve Bynum, a senior producer for Worldview, a global affairs/news program on NPR's Chicago affiliate, WBEZ.
Paromita Shah, an immigration attorney and Associate Director of the National Immigration Project of the National Lawyer's Guild.
