The Society of Physicians is honored to host a lecture with Dr.Saul! Dr. Saul is an esteemed doctor and professor at UIC. Not only is he a practicing pediatrician, he has also served as the curricular director of the College of Medicine, and is currently the vice provost for planning and programs for UIC! Future med students, this is one lecture you cannot miss! He will be discussing his research, but pay close attention to hear his advice on other areas as well! He has a primary research interest in exploring and identifying ways to improve how physicians individualize treatment decisions. He has developed the concept of "contextual errors" to describe medical errors that result from failures to identify or take into account factors in patients' lives and circumstances that are relevant to their care. He works with actors who present in physician practices as incognito standardized patients to collect comparative data on physician decision making under various conditions. He is developing and evaluating educational interventions to train health care providers to integrate patient context with research evidence when planning patient care.
