LeadershipUIC is the pinnacle leadership experience for students on-campus. Throughout the program, participants receive coaching from prominent community and business leaders and work collaboratively to find solutions to a current problem that exists around them. By clarifying their mission, vision, values, along with their own definition of leadership, this capstone experience allows students to reflect on their journey from exploring leaders to transformed leaders while giving them the opportunity to craft a project portfolio that they can use as they begin to search for careers and other leadership positions.
LeadershipUIC is exclusive to UIC students entering their final year at the university. These students must have two semesters of coursework remaining and have shown their commitment to being an engaged leader on-campus and in the community. Ideally, LeadershipUIC applicants are a part of a student organization, are a student employee, hold another leadership position, and/or have participated in one of SLCE’s other leadership development offerings.
LeadershipUIC is a yearlong commitment. Beginning with an hour-long orientation session at 12pm on Friday, August 28, 2020, followed by once-a-month sessions that take place Fridays from 12-3pm at an on- or off-campus location. Program sessions are tentatively scheduled on the following dates: September 18, October 16, November 20, February 12, March 12, & April 9.
For Fall 2020, we will be looking to have this program take place in person, virtually, or synchronously (both in-person and virtual at the same time). Selected participants will be informed via email of the format of the program before they need to confirm their commitment.
Applications are due August 14 at 11:45pm. Applications can be found at https://go.uic.edu/LeadershipUIC
