Swimable is an aquatics program powered by university students that serves children with special needs. Our model consists of three parts: our instructors, our swimmers, and their families. Swimable features specially trained students that conduct one-on-one swim lessons with children with special needs. Swimmers can enjoy customized swim classes led by instructors that interact well and understand swimmers individual needs. We also work to provide a space where families can network and learn about other community resources that could benefit them.
Swimable was developed and launched at UIUC and now is expanding to UIC.
Currently, we are seeking students who are interested in being on the leadership team for Swimable @ UIC. There are a variety of roles, like public engagement, special events, and social media. Also, we are not major exclusive, we just want people who are passionate for our cause!
