Laboratory technician position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Jan Kitajewski in the Department of Physiology and Biophysics at the University of Illinois Chicago.
We are seeking a qualified candidate with skills in molecular biology and mouse tumor modeling to study the mechanisms by which blood vessels contribute to health and diseases such as cancer, stroke, and Alzheimer’s disease. We are seeking someone with the organizational skills to help keep the lab running smoothly and make sure that standards are being met by all lab members. Experience with plasmid creation and confocal microscopy is a plus, but willing to train for specific skill sets.

Duties:
Perform experiments including qPCR, immunohistochemistry, and rodent studies. Maintain lab resources including mouse colony and reagent banks. Work with PI and other members of the Kitajewski lab to conduct projects, including development of novel methods.

Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in science or related field required. Master’s degree in science considered.
• History of lab experience commensurate to degree achieved.
• Possesses and applies comprehensive knowledge of research principles, concepts, practices and methods.
• Proficient in specific lab research techniques and eager to learn new ones.
Preferred Qualifications
• Degrees in cell biology, molecular biology, or related field preferred
• Experience working in a laboratory environment with rodent models.
