As a community created to support and enhance honors education, the NCHC has established a variety of scholarships and awards to support honors student research, to encourage presentation and interaction with the national network of honors students, and to recognize the hard work, innovation, and service that so many students are dedicating to their campuses and their communities.
Traditionally, the Freddye T. Davy Scholarship is intended to help students attend the NCHC Annual Conference. Because the Annual Conference will not take place in 2020, up to four recipients of the 2020 Freddye T. Davy Scholarship will receive $1,000 each to use toward the costs of an honors event or activity that will honor the award's spirit of participation in the educational community. This could be a regional conference, a local educational event, an online event, etc. The recipients will also receive free registration to the NCHC20 Virtual Events, and will be recognized by NCHC as part of a Virtual Awards Ceremony this fall. The deadline for applications has been extended to August 31, 2020.
The Freddye T. Davy Scholarship represents an important step in ensuring that deserving, underserved students get the quality academic experience needed to address and encourage their participation in both their educational communities and in the communities they will be part of long after graduation. We encourage students to apply!
