UIC's Department of Biomedical and Health Information Science's SAFE-T lab is currently in need of some volunteer undergraduates interested in computer science, industrial engineering, pre-med/dentistry/pharmacy/nursing, patient safety, and/or applied psychology to serve as research assistants in our lab for the Fall semester.
Key responsibilities will include:
• Conducting literature reviews
• Formatting papers and references
• Helping to address peer review comments
• Reading scholarly articles
• Writing sections of reports, papers (based on writing abilities)
• Preparing and helping to edit presentations
• Data entry, transcription, and analysis
• Other day-to-day research activities on both applied and academic research projects as needed
• Development of their own research ideas that can be presented at conferences, class projects, etc. (on a case by case basis)
In return for your assistance, I am happy to write recommendation letters for hardworking RAs who would like to go on to graduate school, provide advice and mentorship on how to get into graduate programs or jobs, and facilitate the development of student-led research projects for course or work-study credit (including Vice Chancellor Research Awards, Independent Research courses, and Distinction in the Major). Projects that RAs will be working on are related to teamwork science, electronic health records, health information technologies, sociotechnical systems, and simulation, with emphasis on applied projects in the medical field.
I request that RAs volunteer a minimum of 5 hours per week and be prepared to commit for at least two academic year semesters (Fall/Spring).
Anyone who is interested can email the attached application along with resume and availability for an interview from 8:00am-6:00pm Mondays-Fridays to safe_t_lab@uic.edu.
For full consideration, please submit your materials before 11:59pm on April 19, 2021.
Thank you!
