Making Waves. Eastern European Film Club is happy to announce its next screening: '12:08 East of Bucharest’ (aka 'Was it or was it not?'; 2006, 89 min) - a Romanian black comedy directed by Corneliu Porumboiu.
It’s the 22nd of December. Sixteen years have passed since the revolution that overthrew Nicolae CeauČ™escu and a communist regime. A local talk show host organizes an alcoholic professor and a pensioner known for playing Santa Claus to decide whether there was ever a revolution in their town Vaslui. The film won the prize for best first feature at the 2006 Cannes Festival.
The screening will take place in CUPPA Conference Room 2 (in the basement) on Wednesday 3/8 at 2:30pm. All screenings are free & open to the public.
