via The Umbrella:
Why are there not enough scholarships for International Students? Why don't we quality for so many on-campus jobs? Till when are we going to take this for granted? These are some questions we are trying to answer at The Umbrella.
We are a new student organization on campus focused on the financial needs of international students. Our largest initiative would be to do a yearlong fundraiser, passing on the proceeds as scholarships to international students. We are also moving towards a non-profit status to expand our reach beyond UIC.
Our three-year plan:
Year 1: Focus on UIC's International students.
Year 2: Chapter in all public universities in Chicago.
Year 3: Chapter in all community colleges in Chicago.
We are recruiting core members. And you do not have to be an international student to apply. If you are not afraid of commitment and really want to make a difference, fill out: https://forms.gle/Q6nFCgWokarL4zAX7.
