The University of Chicago Consortium on School Research is running a project entitled the Equitable Learning & Development Project (ELDP), which seeks to focus on social-emotional learning, liberatory learning environments, and the capacity of adults and systems to support students’ social, emotional, and academic development.
Within the larger network of ELDP is an initiative called Queer Arts Alliance (QAA). QAA is an intergenerational group of queer-identified adults and young people who come together to build community and share their experience within the educational system. The premise behind QAA is the belief that living while transgressing, in community with others, is a form of art that should be celebrated. We know intimately well how isolating this global pandemic has been for people with in the LGBTQIA community and we hope, through the QAA, to provide a safe space where folks can imagine together what liberatory learning, development, and education could be if it centered our needs.
If this sounds like a group in which you would be interested in participating, please fill out this Google form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeumgsxMMTtww3Rn-x0JmYhu92Jov3GRBov8LeVD3nhQmF8Sg/viewform?gxids=7628.
This form is meant for us to get to know you a bit better and to learn more about what you would like to see happen in the QAA. After you submit your form, we will be reaching out to you to schedule a Zoom or phone meeting.
