We wanted to share some updates regarding our 2021 spring trips. We have lowered the cost to $15/person. The money will still go directly to the Highland Support Project, raising money to fund a clean-burning stove for a family in Guatemala.
If you need a refresher, here is some information on our spring trips:
Dates: March 22-24; Times TBD
Our in-person service event will be in partnership with the Living Lands & Water. This will be a 3-day event lasting a couple of hours each day. Our group will go out to a local spot that needs beautifying and clean up the area (probably along the lakefront). This is a competition between other schools- the school that collects the most garbage will win a prize! (Hopefully, that will be us!)
Our virtual event will be experiencing Guatemala from your home! We are working with an organization called Highland Support Project, which works to empower indigenous communities by providing opportunities for education, community organization, supporting social entrepreneurs, and addressing health and poverty in the face of shifting political arenas and environmental changes. This opportunity will consist of speakers and discussions on Guatemalan culture. We will be fundraising for a clean-burning stove and virtually connecting with the family receiving it.
