We are inviting all UIC's undergraduate and graduate students to take our 2021 Sustainability Literacy and Culture Survey. This survey is part of a research study to assess the knowledge amongst the UIC student body about sustainability.
By educating ourselves about sustainability, we can see how urgent of an issue it is all around the world and here at UIC, we can strive to be more conscious about our decisions when looking at the future of our Earth. The research will also help guide future curriculum development at UIC.
Your participation in the research and through your responses to the survey questions will directly contribute to this initiative. The results of this survey will be reported to the Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System (STARS), in which UIC is a participant. STARS is a self-reporting system that allows colleges and universities to track and measure their sustainability performance. UIC, like many other universities, are working towards educating their students more around issues such as sustainability. This survey will help to educate and spark interest around such practices.

This survey will take approximately 10 minutes to complete. Your participation in this study is voluntary, which means that you may choose not to participate at any time without any penalty. The following questions are part of a baseline survey which will be succeeded by a follow-up survey given out in November, only for those who complete the initial survey. Additionally, upon completion of this survey, you will be automatically entered to win a gift certificate for the UIC Bookstore. Participants will be able to conduct the survey via mobile phone, computer or tablet, when logged in through their UIC email account.
