Position Description:
I am currently recruiting for an undergraduate student to support an applied public health prevention research project as part of the Chancellor’s Undergraduate Research Awards Program (https://cura.uic.edu/informationfor-students/).

Brief Description of the Project:
The Physical Activity Policy Research and Evaluation Network (PAPREN) is funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and involves conducting physical activity policy relevant research and translating research for use by decisionmakers. The CURA student would be supporting a large team of researchers from UIC and other institutions nationwide to help screen and compile literature for a large systematic review on equity-related foci in built environment/active travel-related policies, programs, and interventions.
Brief Description of Roles and Responsibilities:
• Assist with literature reviews related to physical activity policy, the built environment, and active travel.
• Assist with data entry in Covidence systematic review software.
• Obtain articles from the UIC library databases/interlibrary loan.
• Participate in review meetings and document decisions.
• Help with preparing presentations and other products emanating from the project.
Minimum Qualifications of Student:
• Must have accepted FWS as part of your financial aid package
• Must have ability to join meetings virtually via Zoom.
• Honors college and/or public health, urban planning, public policy major preferred but not required.
• At least a 3.0 GPA;
• Sophomore standing or higher;
• Excellent organizational skills and extreme attention to detail.
• Excellent literature/internet research skills.
• Interest in public policy, public health, and physical activity, a plus
• Prior experience with literature searches/systematic reviews a plus.
Position Information:
Minimum hours per week for each position: at least 10 per week up to 20 hours per week (please specify your preferred hours). The position will run for the entire Fall Semester with a possibility of renewal for Spring based on performance and CURA/funding availability.To be eligible for this opportunity, YOU MUST HAVE ACCEPTED FEDERAL WORK STUDY AS PART OF YOUR FINANCIAL AID PACKAGE FROM THE UNIVERSITY.
