Taking place the first Monday of each month, in partnership with multiple campus partners, this regular service opportunity allows students to give back while they are on campus. This enables students who don't have the time or resources to serve in other ways to still contribute to community organizations. Projects are usually hands-on and involve making something.
The next Make Mondays Matter is April 5th! (11am-1pm)
For this month, student volunteers will be packing 500 S.T.E.A.M kits for low-income CPS students at 5 schools across Chicago (Drake Elementary, Fiske Elementary, Sherwood Elementary, Mozart Elementary, and Pilsen Academy). They each contain 3 activities: Darwin's Finches (teaching about speciation through an activity simulating different finches' beaks), The Air We Breathe (a mask decorating activity teaching about germs and pollutants), and Native Plants & Pollinators (students learn about this through planting their own native plant). The kits also include a lesson booklet that gives background to each activity and details the instructions for each activity.
This event is an in-person event happening on-campus. Confirmation details will be sent upon registration closer to the project date.
