Apply for the Environmental Scholarship Program via Alliance of Hazardous Materials Professionals - Chicago Chapter!
Purpose: To support students who are investing their future in the protection of the environment.
Scholarship Amount: One $1500 scholarship will be awarded annually as funding permits.
Selection of Applicants: Selection of the scholarship will be based upon scholastic achievement, honors, extracurricular, volunteer activities and/or leadership demonstrated related to the environment. Financial need will not be considered.
Eligible applicants must:
• Be attending 1) DePaul University, 2) University of Illinois at Chicago, 3) Illinois Institute of Technology, 4) Northern Illinois University, 5) North Central College or 6) Northwestern University or other 4-year institution, in northern Illinois; full or part-time for the academic year.
• Be pursuing a career in the environmental field (or as described below) as an undergraduate upperclassman (Junior or Senior in a 4-year degree program) or graduate student in an environmental-related degree or certificate program, including but not limited to:
o Hazardous materials technologies
o Environmental engineering
o Civil engineering with an environmental emphasis
o Physical/natural sciences with an environmental emphasis (i.e. chemistry, geology, biology, etc.)
o Energy conservation or management
o The Emergency Management & Continuity Planning Program or Disaster Management Certificate Program at University of Illinois at Chicago
• Have a minimum GPA of 2.5 and making satisfactory progress.
• Complete the application form, including the short essays.
• Have not previously been awarded the AHMP Environmental Scholarship.
• Be a resident of the State of Illinois.
