Volunteer for Migrant Legal Workshops
Beginning in November 2023, non-profit organizations will be organizing large-scale workshops to help thousands of Southwestern Border Migrants apply for employment authorization and Temporary Protected Status. The TPS and employment authorization will allow migrants to begin working and move on from living in shelters. Volunteers are needed. Spanish or Haitian Creole bilingual skills are particularly helpful but not necessary. Locations will vary but will likely be at Chicago City College sites. Volunteers should be prepared to spend 4-5 hours at each workshop. Shorter sessions may be possible. This is ideal for student volunteers. If interested, please provide your name, email and text number to let you know of opportunities. This form is created by Rob Paral, Senior Research Specialist, Great Cities Institute, UIC.
Below is a Google Form to sign up to volunteer at the workshops as helpers and interpreters. The purpose is to create a volunteer bank for help at migrant legal workshops.

Volunteer with Mobile Migrant Health Team
The Mobile Migrant Health Team was founded as a part of the Figueroa-Wu Family Foundation to serve patients as a mobile and adaptable health triage team. Since their inception, they have served fifteen different police precincts to address the medical concerns of the migrant community and provide trauma-informed care. Undergraduate volunteers are needed to pack medications and supplies, organize donations at shelters, coordinate youth oriented events, and do outreach to the community. Spanish language skills are helpful, but not required.
