Registration for the Chicago Area Undergraduate Research Symposium (CAURS) is now open! CAURS is one of the largest annual undergraduate research conferences in the country, hosting students in the Chicagoland area from all academic disciplines. Students will be able to experience the great breadth and depth of topics conducted by their undergraduate peers, having the opportunity to network with other undergraduates, graduate students, faculty, and representatives from graduate and professional schools.
This year's symposium will be held on Saturday, April 11th, 2015 at the Robert H. Lurie Medical Research Center at 303 E. Superior St., Chicago, IL, 60611. The day's events include two poster sessions, an oral presentation session, a free lunch, a keynote speech, and an awards ceremony.
Students may elect to present their research in either a poster presentation format or an oral presentation format, with all presentations judged by those within the student's discipline, as well as an additional judge outside of the student's discipline. Awards will be presented to the top presenters in each school, discipline, and presentation type.
We are also fortunate to feature a keynote speech by Sam Kean, New York Times bestselling author of The Disappearing Spoon, The Violinist's Thumb, and The Dueling Neurosurgeons. Each of his books has been named Amazon top science books of the year, and his work has been featured on NPR's "Radiolab," "All Things Considered," and "Fresh Air."
Students of our partner universities (Northwestern, Loyola, DePaul, UIC, IIT, University of Chicago, and Calumet College of St. Joseph) may register for free at www.caurs.com. Registration closes on March 14, 2015. In addition, we will be able to provide free poster printing (42" x 42") to the first seventy-five students who register! If you wish to utilize the free poster printing, please email Dana at email@example.com.
