Would you and/or your friends and families be interested in donating to homeless families in need?
Martin Luther King Service Day has become an important day of service for the UIC Center for Literacy's AmeriCorps Project MORE, staff, and community volunteers. It is a DAY ON!, where we come together to give back to communities in need.
On January 19, 2015, our teams will be working with 8-10 homeless shelters to provide families a day filled with: literacy activities, reflection on the meaning of service and the impact of Dr. King as well as providing much needed donations. Our team of volunteers will wrap the day up with a lunch and reflection of their service experience.
In speaking with Shelter Directors, ITEMS NEEDED by families include:
TOILETRIES (soap, shampoo, deodorant, shaving cream, feminine products, tooth brushes, tooth paste, and like items), NEW GLOVES, SCARVES, HATS
