UIC/NBC Homework Hotline Volunteers needed for Spring 2015. Volunteers are especially needed on Tuesday evenings right now. Most tutoring begins the week of Monday, 1/26 so email Sarah Gardiner at sarahg1@uic.edu right away if you are interested.
If you are a sophomore, junior, or senior, and are looking for an honors activity for the fall semester, or a freshman looking for a way to get involved, volunteers are needed for the following opportunity:
The Honors College and NBC-5/Telemundo team up to provide Chicago area school children a helping hand with their homework through the Homework Hotline. Chicago area school children are invited to call the Homework Hotline from 4 - 7 p.m. Monday - Thursday and ask questions about their homework and receive help. Callers may be from grades K-12, though most are grades 5-8.
Honors College volunteers will answer phones at a phone bank located in NBC's offices at NBC Tower (454 N. Columbus Drive) one night per week from 4-7pm for the entire semester.
If you are interested in this volunteer option for your Spring 2015 Honors Activity please stop by the Honors College to pick up an application, or print out the attachment here.
You will need to attend a mandatory orientation at the NBC Tower in downtown Chicago.
You may turn your application in to sarahg1@uic.edu, or by bringing it in to the Honors College reception desk for Sarah Gardiner.
