The Chancellor's Committee on the Status of Persons with Disabilities is seeking new members for the upcoming academic year July 2014 to June 2015.
Our Mission is to promote empowerment and inclusion of students, faculty and staff with disabilities at UIC. The Committee recognizes that people with disabilities are a diverse group, including individuals with visible and non-visible disabilities. The CCSPD provides a forum for discussion and assessment of disability-related issues that are relevant for the campus and the larger community. In addition, the CCSPD advises the Chancellor and other administrative units and makes recommendations on disability-related issues, policies, services, attitudes and practices on campus. This mission is motivated by the belief that people with disabilities are assets to the university.
We are seeking candidates from all aspects of campus: Undergraduate Students, Graduate Students, Faculty, and Staff. We seek candidates that have an eagerness to promote the mission of our committee coupled with a strong desire to learn from others. If you are interested in serving on the CCSPD please send a cover letter outlining why you would like to be a part of the CCSPD, your talents, background, and how disability related experiences have shaped your desire to get involved.
Please email your cover letter to: mgoedert@uic.edu Please include "CCSPD Membership" in the subject line.
The deadline to submit your request is Wednesday April 16th. After this date we will begin the process to submit CCSPD candidates to the Office of the Chancellor for final selection during the summer.
Sincerely,
Carol Gill - CCSPD Co-Chair
